Position Overview

The Eastern Division, Train Collectors Association is seeking a volunteer Assistant Social Media & Marketing Chairman to help promote our events, programs, activities, and the train-collecting hobby through social media and other marketing channels.

You do not need professional social media or marketing experience to apply. If you have an interest in communications, marketing, social media, content creation, photography, video, or trains and would like an opportunity to gain experience while supporting a nonprofit organization, we would be happy to work with you.

This is a flexible volunteer leadership position and an opportunity to gain hands-on experience promoting major Eastern Division activities, including the York Train Fair.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Social Media & Marketing Chairman with Eastern Division social media and marketing efforts.
• Help create, schedule, and publish engaging social media content.
• Develop ideas for posts, campaigns, videos, graphics, and other promotional materials.
• Assist with managing content for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other platforms.
• Help promote the York Train Fair and other Eastern Division activities.
• Assist with event advertising and promotional campaigns.
• Help identify photographs, videos, stories, and other material that can be shared with followers.
• Work with Eastern Division volunteers and leadership to develop content and promote activities.
• Help engage with the train-collecting community through social media.
• Assist with reviewing social media performance and identifying successful types of content.
• Help maintain a consistent Eastern Division voice and public presence.
• Assist with special marketing and communications projects as needed.
• Coordinate with external advertising partners to create and manage engaging advertising campaigns.

Qualifications

No professional social media or marketing experience is required.

We are primarily looking for someone who:

• Has an interest in social media, communications, marketing, content creation, or digital media.
• Is creative and willing to contribute new ideas.
• Is comfortable using or learning social media platforms.
• Can communicate and collaborate with other volunteers.
• Can represent the Eastern Division professionally online.
• Is dependable and able to complete agreed-upon projects within reasonable timeframes.

Experience with Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Canva, photography, video production, advertising, or social media management is helpful but not required.

Time Commitment

This is a flexible volunteer position. Workload will vary depending on upcoming events, campaigns, and projects, with increased activity typically occurring around the York Train Fair. Most work can be completed remotely and scheduled around the volunteer's availability.
